Names a codicil
As a codicil to the previous piece I remembered too that Fanny was a much used name for women at one point before it developed connotations regarding sexuality and I was also thinking about the old film ‘Fanny by Gas light’ I am sure it is a film but it must be perhaps before many of my readers times because I do know it is before mine, so if any of you find a copy I would be interested to know.

Well i have heard of fanny by gaslight, my dad and my nana talked of it! Is it the book you are looking for?
ReplyDeleteI also remember a film when i was about 10 perhaps 11 + and it was called "fanny hill" i remember my younger cousin looking at the title, pointing and grinning saying "Jill - that says fanny"
I must have had quite an older head on my shoulders at the time cos i didn't see the rude sense to it. Either that or i was so petrified someone may have seen me giggle and tell my mum i automatically reacted in a sensible way lol!
But in america, fanny means bum, bottom, butt etc, we have bum bags, they have fanny bags lol!
